BREAKING NEWS: Ex-UNILAG VC, Prof Ibidapo Obe, dies from COVID-19 complications

A former vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe, has been declared dead. Professor Ibidapo-Obe was, until his death, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council of First Technical University, Ibadan. His death was confirmed in a statement on Sunday, January 3 by the registrar and secretary to the council of the university, Olayinka Balogun.

“A very distinguished and respected professor. As a VC, he was pure class. God rest his soul and comfort the family and all Akokites.”

“I remember meeting him with my mum when he was Dean of Engineering. His words of wisdom and encouragement were profound. My mum (who sadly passed away last year) always referred to him as her favourite cousin.”

Meanwhile, Prophet Temitope Joshua, the founder of The Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), has released anointing water and a church sticker which he says will be used to fight coronavirus and other ailments ravaging the world.

The SCOAN founder said he was mandated to release the “faith tools”after a long period at the prayer mountain where he went to seek God’s face on the cure for the afflictions facing the world.

In a related development, US president-elect Joe Biden has appointed Nigerian-born Osaremen Okolo as one of his advisers on COVID-19.

Okolo was appointed on Thursday, December 31, as one of the members of the Biden-Harris COVID-19 response team. Well we’ve urged each and everyone to stay indoors due to the victim and hopefully things will get in the country of Nigeria.
