“Don’t just grow older, grow wiser too” – Burna Boy subtly urges Shatta Wale
Shatta Wale expressed his rage on Nigerian musicians in a Twitter outburst following the success of his “Freedom Wave” event at the Accra Sports Stadium.
He insisted that Nigerian artists were not as special as they were perceived thus local artists could make it without necessarily collaborating together.
Shatta Wale also attacked Nigerians and berated them for looking down on Ghanaian artistes. He also fumed about the popularization of Nigerian music in Ghana to the detriment of local talents.
Burna Boy has finally posted a message that is thought to be directed at Shatta Wale, a dancehall musician, for his December 25 statement in which he labeled Nigerians “dumb” and claimed they do not reciprocate the love they receive from Ghanaians.
In an Instagram post, Nigerian singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, better known by his stage as Burna Boy, said that by 2022, he hopes that “we not just get older and fatter, but older and wiser.”

Burna Boy didn’t specifically mention Shatta Wale in the post, but given the communication situation, it’s more likely that he put those words together with Shatta Wale in mind.
